Walker-Hackensack-Akeley defeated the Nevis fastpitch softball team in an Upper Mississippi Conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 27.
W-H-A won the first game 6-3 and followed with a 10-6 victory in the second game.
In the first game, the Tigers had five hits with Maggie Carrier going 1 for 3 with a run scored and a two-run double while Molly Lindow went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Lyra Luebert went 1 for 2 with a run scored and Olivia Harris scored a run.
Leading Nevis’ 13-hit attack in the second game was Luebert, who went 1 for 2 with a two-run home run. Mackenzie Mitchell (3 for 3, one run, one double), Paradise Johnson (2 for 3, one run), Carrier (1 for 3, one double), Paris Munn (1 for 3), Lindow (1 for 3, one run) and Neveah Holingsworth (one run) also aided Nevis’ offense.
The Wolves improved to 3-0 in the conference and 4-0 overall.
Nevis fell to 1-4 in conference play and 1-5 overall with a pair of losses to Pine River-Backus on Thursday, April 29.
PR-B followed a 12-2 win in the first game with a 14-7 victory in the second game. PR-B improved to 3-0 in the conference and 4-3 overall.
Carrier (1 for 3, one RBI), Maddy Brakke (1 for 2, one RBI) and Johnson (1 for 2) accounted for Nevis’ hits in the first game. Eva Warrington and Caitlyn Stute scored the two runs.
In the second game, Lindow (3 for 3, one run, two RBI), Johnson (2 for 3, one run, two RBI), Brakke (1 for 2, one run) and Sonja Habedank (1 for 2, one run) led Nevis’ seven-hit attack in the second game.
Carrier pitched all four games.
