The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in Iowa hospitals dropped Sunday to its lowest level in more than 13 months, according to state public health data.

In a 24-hour period ending at 11 a.m. Sunday, 104 patients were being treated for the disease, a drop from 111 at the same time a day before and tied for the lowest number since April 7, 2020. The number of patients in intensive care ticked up from 24 to 25, and the number of patients using ventilators to help breathe remained steady at 10.

Five new cases were added in Linn County, for a total so far of 21,047. Three new cases were added in Johnson County, for a total of 14,569.

One new case was reported for adults in the education occupation category. Another nine cases were reported for children 17 and younger.
