(WAOW) — For over three weeks, Wisconsin has been on a downward trend in newly reported COVID-19 cases, which in turn impacts how many cases are active in the state.

On Monday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reported that there were 19,161 active cases. On Tuesday, they report 17,809 active cases; a drop of 1,352.

Wisconsin adds an additional 1,095 new COVID-19 cases and reports another 2,087 new negative test results (34% positivity rate). This brings the total of confirmed cases in the state to 520,325.

The seven-day average for newly reported cases falls to 1,291, an average that hasn't been seen since mid-September.

The state is reporting 40 additional deaths, bringing the total of those who have died from the virus to 5,937 (1.1% of all positive cases).

The seven-day average for deaths is now 26.

DHS also reported 123 people were newly hospitalized.

As of Sunday afternoon, 686 COVID-19 patients were being treated in Wisconsin hospitals, down 11 from the day prior.

Of those, 146 are in the ICU, down 22 from the day before, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

As of Monday a total of 578,336 vaccines have been administered throughout Wisconsin.

DHS now has a county-level dashboard to assess the COVID-19 activity level in counties and Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition regions that measure what DHS calls the burden in each county. View the dashboard HERE.
