Brewers tidy up in Cleveland - Let's Go Tribe

apenabe.blogspot.com

When times get rough, we have a few go-to jokes here at Covering the Corner. Panic threads, cricket updates, single-word articles; it’s a good time.

I never thought I’d have to consider writing a template article for Cleveland getting no-hit, but here we are.

No, the Indians did not fall to the Brewers without earning a hit for the second straight game. Yes, the Indians did fall to the Brewers by a final score of 11-1. They ended up earning four whole hits. What’s that? Ope! Couple of errors too, folks.

Eric Lauer carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Cleveland broke through. Already no-hit three times this season, the Indians flirted with a second-consecutive game of nonsense. Thank goodness they only lost.

No-hitter or not, Cleveland never contended this afternoon. Aaron Civale’s second start back from his rehab stint might leave some wondering if the starter isn’t quite back to 100%. It may only be rust, but the Brewers were never fooled by his offerings. In three innings he surrendered seven hits, seven runs, and two walks while striking out three. He also coughed up three long balls.

Fortunately, it does not matter very much whether or not Civale has his best stuff this September.

The strangest thing about today’s game - Cleveland’s first three hits all came consecutively in the sixth inning. Ergo, a run! Sequencing picks unusual times to be your friend, doesn’t it?

The only other item worth noting from this effort is that Aaron Ashby of the Brewers earned a three-out save. Neat.

Cleveland is now 69-72 on the season.

Adblock test (Why?)
