Property damage: Cricket Lane
On Sept. 6, police were dispatched to a Cricket Lane address after a resident discovered that someone had not only removed multiple solar lights from his property overnight, but also threw them into the street and a neighbor’s yard.
A short time later, an Edgewood Lane resident called police after discovering that someone had broken his lamp post overnight.
At that point, the officer, while touring the neighborhood, observed broken lamp posts and lights at nine other homes.
A Hillside Road resident also called police after discovering that someone had smashed their vehicle’s rear window.
An Edgewood Lane resident’s surveillance footage captured the suspects, who appeared to be between the ages of 10 and 15. One of the kids was carrying a stick that was used to break that lamp post.
Police are investigating.
Disorderly conduct: Hillside Road
On Sept. 6, a concerned resident called police about a man seen lying in the bushes along Hillside Road. The caller said the man might be drunk.
An arriving officer confirmed that the suspect, who was found lying on his right side on the south side of the street near the Independence border, was hammered. Part of his legs extended onto Hillside Road.
While talking to the Independence man, the officer smelled booze. The man slurred that he was just trying to gather up his bag so he could walk home. When asked about the odor, the resident said he had a couple of beers.
Prior to being given a courtesy ride home, the unsteady man was cited for disorderly conduct.
