The performance was the ninth-best total of the second round. Host Furman continues to lead the field with a 36-hold total of 557 after shooting 277 on Saturday. North Florida moved into a tie for second alongside Coastal Carolina as both sit on 582 scores. FGCU's score of 615 through two rounds moved the Eagles into 12th, ahead of Daytona State, and just five strokes behind Wofford.
"I'm really proud of the way we rebounded today. Every team is going to have bad rounds but it is how you react that counts," said head coach Sarah Trew. "I was very pleased with the way we handled ourselves and, overall, eliminated most of the big numbers. Laura had a fantastic round today and gave us a big boost for our team score. Tomorrow we are going to look to improve more and finish up the tournament strong."
Edmonds had a phenomenal day carding a 69 in a nearly error-free day. She had just one bogey and tallied four birdies. Posie Farrelly (Lutz, Fla./George Steinbrenner HS), playing in her first collegiate tournament, continued her steady play with a 76, two down from yesterday, to move up to 44th individually. Josephine Bertelsen (Vejle, Denmark/Campus Vejle/Western Texas College) moved into a tie for 50th after shooting 77, while Haley Yerxa (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest) improved six strokes for a 78 on Saturday which moved her into a tie for 67th. Emma Grace Messenger (Montgomery, Texas/Legacy Prep Christian Academy) shot 82 to sit in 70th individually.
Overall, the Eagles tallied nine birdies, but more importantly, had just one double and triple on the day – in the first round, FGCU had six doubles and two triples while still posting nine birdies.
The performance for Edmonds was an eight-stroke improvement from Friday. After starting on hole No. 10, she had her only bogey of the day on No. 15 while tallying two birdies in her first nine. She added a birdies on No. 2 and No. 5 which put her three-under before finishing the round with four straight pars.
Farrelly was plus three on her first nine holes, but had just two bogeys on the front side of the course before carding a birdie to finish the day four over par.
Bertelsen and Yerxa also saw their best play on the front side as Bertelsen had a birdie and two bogeys and Yerxa was par on seven of the nine holes.
Sunday's round three finale will begin at 9 AM with a shotgun start at the Furman University Golf Course.
Following the Lady Paladin Invitational, the Eagles will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, October 4-5, at the Jupiter Women's Invitational hosted by FAU in Jupiter, Fla.

Since taking over the program in 2011, Sarah Trew has guided the Eagles to 46 top-five finishes, including 34 over the past six seasons. On top of that, she led the program to a pair of second-place finishes in the ASUN Championship in 2016, 2017, and 2019, signifying the best finishes in program history. She was named the ASUN Coach of the Year in 2015-16 and has guided FGCU to some of its best statistical seasons in program history

FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 85 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 14+ seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just nine seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 42 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. Eight FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport - including women's basketball (No. 21, 2020-21), beach volleyball (No. 20, 2021) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as three of the most recent.
