Know Your Foe
Toledo is 7-2, with its only losses coming to Virginia Tech (3-0) and Valparaiso (3-2). The Rockets have a pair of 3-0 wins over Horizon League members IUPUI and Youngstown State. Taylor Alt is leading Toledo with 3.67 kills per set, with two setters splitting the duties of running the offense in Elaine Redman (6.73 assists per set) and Payton Morman (4.57 assists per set). Ryann Jaqua is pacing the defensive unit with 4.87 digs per set this season.

A Familiar Name
Toledo's Ryann Jaqua is the younger sister of former Mastodon Madison Jaqua. Madison recorded 4,342 assists and 1,034 digs in her four-year career for the Mastodons from 2015-18. Ryann was an outside hitter in her first season with Toledo, but moved to the DS/libero role prior to the spring 2021 season.

Saturday Night Five
The Mastodons have already played three five-set matches this season (SIUE, Kent State and Liberty). This is more than the entirety of the spring 2021 season, as the 'Dons had just one: a 3-2 loss at Green Bay.

Big 50
Katie Crowe has five double-doubles this season for 50 in her career. She had three consecutive against SIUE (17k, 10d), Evansville (12k, 11d) and Kent State (13k, 12d). She then got back to her double-double ways with one at Western Michigan with 15 kills and 12 digs. She recorded her 50th double-double against Old Dominion with 21 kills and 10 digs.

Hello, My Name is Claire and I'll Be Your Server
Claire Pape had five aces in the Mastodons' match at Liberty (Sept. 11), which included a stretch in the fifth set when she rattled off three aces in a row. Her five aces were the most by a Mastodon in a match since Katie Crowe had six against Youngstown State last spring.

Ace Ace Baby
Purdue Fort Wayne had 14 aces against Old Dominion on Saturday, September 11, which was the most a Mastodon squad had in a single match since October 5, 2007. In a match against South Dakota State on that date, the 'Dons had 16 aces.

Let's Take a Michi-Gander at that Game
The Mastodons picked up their first win of the season at Western Michigan on September 4. The Broncos won the Discover Kalamazoo Classic, but the 'Dons were the only team to beat them in the weekend. Katie Crowe led the 'Dons with 15 kills and 12 digs, while Ramei Jackson had 13 kills with a .550 hitting clip. Rachael Crucis dug out 19 attacks, while both Madison Gates and Nicole Jones recorded double-doubles.

Series History
Purdue Fort Wayne holds an 8-4 edge over the Rockets, dating back to their first matchup in 1982. The most recent match came in 2017, when the 'Dons took a 3-1 win over the Rockets. Katie Crowe was the team's leader with 21 kills in the four-set match.

Last Time Out
The Mastodons went 1-2 at the Liberty Invitational over the weekend, with a win over the host Liberty Flames in five sets. Purdue Fort Wayne dropped a pair of matches against Navy and Old Dominion. Katie Crowe was named to the Liberty Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Coming Up
Purdue Fort Wayne will have a tall task ahead at the Stacey Clark Classic, with a pair of matches against Power Five schools: No. 22 Tennessee of the SEC and Big Ten powerhouse No. 9 Purdue. The 'Dons will also face Jacksonville State. These four teams will play in West Lafayette, Indiana.
