Harris, Jewell Break Records, Steimel Won an Individual Title on Day Two of Southland Championships - University of Central Arkansas Athletics - UCA Sports

HUMBLE, Texas – The Central Arkansas men's and women's track and field teams returned to Humble High School for the second day of the Southland Conference Championships Saturday. Ayana Harris and Zachary Jewell led the way for the Bears as both recorded school records. Sara Steimel won an individual event title. The women are currently tied for 10th and the men are in 11th overall.
 
Steimel won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:57.13. Erin Woodward came in eighth with a mark of 11:28.03. Anna Bommes finished 15th with a run of 11:52.27. Julia Clark placed 17th with an effort of 12:06.71.
 
Ayana Harris finished the 100m hurdles prelims in fifth with a time of 13.89 and broke her previous UCA school record. Aysha Anderson came in seventh with a mark of 14.14. Harris and Anderson both qualified for the 100m hurdles finals.
 
Jewell won the 200m prelims with an effort of 20.57 and broke a UCA record in the process. Jewell's time also qualified him for finals.
 
Jaron Hamilton came in fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a mark of 9:14.96. Simon Schneider placed 20th with a time of 9:58.81.
 
Ajah Criner completed the 100m prelims with a run of 11.58 and came in second. Kendelle McCoy finished fifth with a time of 11.68. Criner and McCoy both qualified for the finals. Sierra Temple placed 16th in the prelims with a effort of 11.98.
 
Jewell came in second in the 100m prelims with a mark of 10.09 and qualified for the finals. Emmanuel Olie finished in 10th with an effort of 10.42. Johnson Adegbite placed 15th with a time of 10.53.
 
TJ Robinson placed second in the 800m prelims with a mark of 1:53.38. Ryan Yarde came in fifth with a time of 1:53.53. Niklas Iking finished in sixth with an effort of 1:53.70. Robinson, Yarde, and Iking all qualified for the finals. Jesse Applewhite finished ninth with a time of 1:54.68. Jared Hamilton came in 11th with a time of 1:55.81.
 
Criner placed fourth in the 200m prelims with a mark of 23.62 and qualified for finals. McCoy came in 14th with a time of 24.72.
 
Timon Dresselhaus placed fifth in the decathlon with a combined score of 6,647. He placed sixth in the 100m, eighth in the long jump, fourth in the shot put, fourth in the high jump, sixth in the 400m, third in the 110m hurdles, second in the discus, ninth in the pole vault, eighth in the javelin, and eighth in the 1,500m.
 
Jaden Harris placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 14.78m (48-6.00). Jalal Taylor finished in 11th with a distance of 13.85m (45-5.25).
 
Jordan Atkins came in seventh in the 110m hurdles prelims with a run of 14.13 and qualified for the finals.
 
Tristan LaVan placed eighth in the 400m prelims with a mark of 47.40 and qualified for the finals. Shamal Sullivan finished 22nd with a time of 49.33.
 
Anderson finished the 400m hurdles prelims with a time of 1:02.74, good enough to qualify for finals, and came in eighth. Taylor Conway placed 13th with an effort of 1:04.22.
 
Jenny Peake finished 11th in the heptathlon with a combined score of 4,494. She placed 10th in the 100m hurdles, 14th in the high jump, third in the shot put, 13th in the 200m, seventh in the long jump, fourth in the javelin, and 10th in the 800m. Natalie Louw finished in 12th with a combined score of 4,306. She placed 13th in the 100m hurdles, sixth in the high jump, fifth in the shot put, 15th in the 200m, ninth in the long jump, 13th in the javelin, and 14th in the 800m.
 
Luke Anthony came in 10th in the javelin with a throw of 54.03m (177-03). Grant Southerland finished 12th with a toss of 50.50m (165-08).
 
Taylor Coleman finished with a leap of 11.58m (38.00) in the triple jump and placed 10th.
 
Aidan Patton recorded a throw of 14.47m (47-5.75) and placed 10th in the shot put. Malik Beasley finished in 16th with a toss of 13.46m (44-2.0).
 
Bommes finished in 12th in the 800m prelims with a time of 2:19.33. Jordan Brock placed 18th with a mark of 2:37.56.
 
Tamera Rhode finished the 400m prelims in 13th with a time of 56.64. Tyler Rose placed 14th with a run of 56.77.
 
The Southland Conference Championships conclude on Sunday. Field events will begin at 8 a.m., while running events will begin at 9 a.m. Live stats can be found here.
