Free COVID-19 tests available at multiple Teton County locations, spring break travelers urged to test - Buckrail

JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson and the Teton County Health Department are urging spring break travelers to test for COVID-19 before and after travel.

Free at-home COVID-19 tests are available for community members at three locations including:

The Teton County Health Department, 460 E. Pearl Ave. Tests are located outside the front door in a blue cooler.
Jackson Town Hall, 50 E. Pearl Ave. Tests are located at the front desk on the 1st floor.
Teton County Administration Building, 200 S. Willow St.Tests located on a table in the front lobby.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending no unnecessary travel at this time. The CDC says that if travel is a necessary test before and after the trip, get fully vaccinated before traveling, and wear a mask and maintain 6-ft of separation from groups outside of your household when in public.

During a COVID-19 community update on March 19, Teton County Health Officer Dr. Travis Riddell urged community members to avoid any necessary travel during spring break. He said, “living in a destination resort like Jackson and being in frequent contact with people who have traveled to our home for recreation, it might be easy to lose sight of the ongoing recommendations from CDC, that really encourage limiting travel. The CDC continues to recommend that people delay nonessential travel for tourist and recreational purposes.”

The CDC is suggesting travelers get tested 3-5 days after the trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even with a negative test result. If no test is taken the CDC says to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

International travelers are required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival into the U.S at customs.
