Ethics Commission drops complaint against Rachael Rollins - Boston Herald

The state Ethics Commission has dropped a complaint against the Suffolk DA in an alleged road-rage conflict with another driver in the South Bay parking lot this past winter.

“The state Ethics Commission has concluded its review and is closing the matter having found no violations,” attorney Ronald Sullivan Jr. said in a statement sent to the Herald from Rollins’ office.

“This few-second traffic encounter has been thoroughly reviewed and not a single criminal, civil rights, or ethical violation occurred. The District Attorney is not surprised by these outcomes,” Sullivan adds, “and sincerely hopes we can all return to the far more pressing matters facing our Commonwealth.”

Rollins found herself in hot water after she got into a confrontation on Christmas Eve with another driver who Rollins said cut her off. The woman, Katie Lawson, filed a report with Boston Police saying Rollins said, “ ‘Don’t try me today, lady, today is not the day,’ ” before activating emergency lights, driving off and failing to stop for a red light.

Attorney General Maura Healey had bumped the matter to the Ethics Commission after she also did not see any violations.

Walker could not be reached for a comment Monday night, but she did tweet her displeasure at the case being dropped. She also asked Massachusetts senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey “about that meeting I have been asking about? An investigation should not be held within the same county and these agencies need to stop making this confusing or being so vague a non attorney doesn’t understand.”
