The Pacific University softball team dropped two games versus the George Fox Bruins Saturday in Newberg.

In game one, George Fox opened up the scoring early in the bottom of the first scoring 2 runs which gave them the lead on the way to a 7-3 victory.

Pacific responded in the top of the second inning when, Jill Uyeda led off with a single followed by another single from Sydney Sahlfeld. Following a sacrifice bunt that advanced the runners 60 feet, Elizabeth Young grounded into a fielder's choice scoring 1 run to cut into the Bruins lead.

Pacific was able to add two more runs in the fourth inning on an RBI double from Marcee Nakamura which was then followed by Elizabeth Young picking up her second RBI of the game on a single to centerfield.

Game two also went to the Bruins 6-3 which included 8 different Boxer hitters recording hits. After Nicole Martinez was able to steal second base following her leadoff single, in the top of the first, the senior from Yorba Linda, CA was able to score on an error by the Bruins catcher.

Later in the fourth inning, Martinez was able to single through the right side which brought home Marcee Nakamura for the Boxers to take a 2-0 lead.

George Fox responded with 6 unanswered runs that were spread out between the 4th and 5th innings.

With one out in the top of the 6th inning, senior infielder Sydney Sahlfeld tried to ignite the Boxer offense when she hit a homerun to left centerfield. The homerun would be Sydney's first homerun of the 2021 campaign.

The Boxer softball team returns to action May 28th with two games scheduled against George Fox.
