BETHLEHEM, PA. - The Binghamton wrestling team took on nationally ranked Lehigh Friday evening, falling 24-14 to the reigning EIWA champion Mountain Hawks. BU (3-9) won four bouts on the evening, highlighted by a revenge win for Jacob Nolan over Jake Logan at 174 pounds. No. 11 Lou DePrez added a dominating technical fall, while Ryan Anderson and Nick Lombard contributed back-to-back solid victories at 141 and 149 pounds.

Highlights

  • BU lost bouts at 125 and 133 pounds, before Anderson got the team on the board. The sophomore had an early takedown in the first, but relinquished an escape and takedown at the end of the period. He found his footing in the second, grabbing a takedown and racking up ride time. He went on to take the 6-4 decision.

  • Nick Lombard followed suit with an impressive 5-0 win over two-time national qualifier Jimmy Hoffman. The 149-pounder did not give up a single point and added two takedowns to get his 11th win of the season.

  • Following a technical fall loss at 157 pounds, Brevin Cassella found himself in a tight one against No. 25 Brian Meyer. Down 2-0 in the second, Cassella proved to be strong on top, knocking down ride time while garnering two back points. Tied in the third, Meyer was able to get a takedown late, and while Cassella earned an escape point, he didn't have time to add more points. Meyer escaped with a 4-3 decision.

  • Jacob Nolan registered a big win at 174 pounds against former NCAA qualifier Jake Logan. The Saranac, N.Y. native trailed 4-3 in the third and was in on a single leg attack when he was granted a hands to the face point to force overtime. In overtime, Nolan earned a takedown to get the win,  avenging a 3-1 loss to Logan a season ago.

  • No. 11 Lou DePrez was the final victor of the evening, breezing past Eli Grape with a 20-5 technical fall. The No. 11 nationally ranked 197-pounder put together a flurry of takedowns to grab five team points.

  • At heavyweight, No. 20 Joe Doyle had the bout's only takedown, but fell to No. 8 Jordan Wood 3-2 due to ride time.
