SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The North Texas women's basketball team blew out the St. Thomas Tommies on the Final Day of the Thanksgiving Classic at Cal Poly. The Mean Green led for the entire game and advanced to 4-2 on the season with a decisive victory.

Head Coach Jalie Mitchell was able to empty the bench early as the Mean Green cruised to another dub. Amber Dixon might just be the X-factor for UNT as she had another double figure performance with 15 points, seven boards, and three dimes in 21 minutes of action. Quincy Noble was efficient, leading North Texas in scoring with 18 points going four-of-eight from behind the arc. Jazion Jackson looked more like herself with eight points and five boards.

It was a balanced scoring effort with seven student-athletes registering at least six points in the contest. Freshman Kendall McGruder saw an uptick in minutes and set a new career-high with 10 points. Jaylen Mallard made her second consecutive start for the Mean Green. She managed to carve out six points on 100% shooting from the floor, and six rebounds in limited action.

All in all, North Texas did exactly what it needed to do to have successful tournament run. The Mean Green will return to action when they host SMU on Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in the Super Pit.

QUOTING HEAD COACH MITCHELL
"I thought we responded well today. We held St. Thomas to 14% from 3-point range, so that was a huge improvement from yesterday. We game planned to have better 3-point defense and we did just that. We won the rebounding battle but would like to have seen a bigger margin. Overall, I'm just really proud of our team. We got a chance to look at some players like McGruder, I thought she had good minutes off the bench. Can't say enough about Dixon, back-to-back great games from her. I think we're trending in the right direction and our goal was to go 2-0. We're coming home 2-0."
