TETON COUNTY, Wyo. — Teton County recommends that travelers who plan to leave the country for spring break in 2022 apply for passport appointments by mid-December.

Due to longer Department of State processing times, Clerk of District Court Anne Sutton recommends applying soon to avoid extra expediting fees. Weekday appointments are available hourly between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. throughout December. The office recently announced a special Passport Sunday event on Dec. 5, but those appointments filled up quickly.

“Currently, the U.S. Department of State (U.S.D.S) is reporting its routine processing time can take up to 11 weeks, not including mailing time to and from the agency,” said Sutton. “Appointments in our office are starting to fill up for December, so if you need a passport by Spring Break, it is important to make an appointment as soon as possible in order to avoid expedited fees.”

Advance appointments are required for all applications processed at the Teton County Clerk of District Court’s Office. Only one appointment is needed to process members of the same family. Applicants that must appear at an acceptance facility, such as the Clerk of Court’s Office, include all first-time applicants, all minor applicants, minor renewals, adults renewing a passport received as a minor, adults with passports expired more than five years or adults who do not have their most recent passport in their possession. For a minor’s application, the minor and parents need to appear for the appointment.

Most adult renewals of prior 10-year passports (if your passport is in your possession) can be sent directly to the Department of State by the applicant, using the forms and instructions available at travel.state.gov.

The office is located upstairs at the Teton County Courthouse at 180 S. King Street.
