NORFOLK, Va. – The Hartford softball team dropped its final game at the NSU-Hampton Classic against the Pirates of Hampton, 13-0, this morning. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 1-4 on the season. The Pirates improve to 2-1 early on in the season. 
 
HAMPTON 13, HARTFORD 0 (5)
Senior Julianna Kocenski was able to keep the Pirates off the board and shut down any chance of offense up until the third inning. However, Hampton would strike first, bringing home one unearned run in the bottom half of the third. The Pirates followed that up by bringing in 12 unanswered runs in the fourth. The deficit would be too much for the Hawks to bounce back and overcome, as Hampton would take the final game from Hartford, 13-0, after five innings. 
 
NEWS AND NOTES

• Kocenski (1-2) got the start in the final game of the tournament, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits, picking up the loss
• Junior Lauren Card came in for relief to get the final two outs of the fourth inning, allowing one earned run on three hits
• Senior Emma Curry recorded the lone hit for the Hawks today with single down the left field line in the top of the second inning

 
NEXT ON TAP
The Hawks head back out on the road next weekend Friday, February 19, to take on the Hornets of Delaware State in a three game weekend series.
