The Western Colorado women's basketball team will be on the road on Friday and Saturday, when they kick off RMAC league play against Black Hills State University and Chadron State College.
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • The Mountaineers will look to get back to their winning ways on Friday, December 3, after suffering two tough loses against Southwestern Oklahoma State and West Texas A&M University in the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic.
  • So far this season Ky Buell has been the Mountaineers go to player, leading the team in scoring (11), field goal percentage (46.7) and three-point shooting (42.1).
  • Samantha Coleman is right behind Buell in the scoring department, averaging 9.6 points per game, shooting 44.1% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc.
  • Katie Dalton has played a key role in the post averaging a team leading, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
  • While the Mountaineers couldn't get things going offensively in their last two games, they improved significantly at the free throw line making 23-of-29 (82.1%). Going into those games they were averaging 57.1% from the free throw line.
  • On the defensive side of things, the Mountaineers were pretty impressive averaging six steals a game and 2.5 blocks.
YELLOW JACKETS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • The Yellow Jackets similar to Western have had a rough stretch of games lately and are currently on a three-game losing streak, falling to Sioux Falls, Hawaii Pacific and Walsh.
  • In the three losses teams have averaged 71.6 points against the Yellow Jackets.
  • Megan Engesser and Danica Kocer lead the way, each scoring 11 points per game. Engesser is also the leading rebounder for the Yellow Jackets with 4.7 per game. 
  • In the five games played this season, the Yellow Jackets average 56 points per game, shooting 35.5% from the field, 31.6% from the three-point line and turn the ball over 15.2 per game.
EAGLES HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  •  It has been a slow start to the season for the Eagles as they have only won one game. That victory came on Sunday, Nov. 21 against Mount Mary where they won 68-48.
  •  In the four losses teams have averaged 77 points against the Eagles.
  • Ashayla Powers is the main player for the Eagles averaging a team leading, 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
  • In the five games played this season, the Eagles average 57 points per game, shooting 32.8% from the field, 25.8% from the three-point line and turn the ball over 15.4 per game.
ON THE COURT NEXT
Following Saturday's game, the Mountaineers will travel to Durango, Colo., to take on Fort Lewis College on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in Whalen Gymnasium.
