FRAMINGHAM – More than 50 COVID have been reported by the Framingham Public Schools in the four days since the Thanksgiving break.

Yesterday on December 2, 15 new cases were reported. On December 1, there were a dozen new cases.

In total 53 cases of COVID have been reported since Monday. It is unknown if the cases are students, staff or a combination of both

Earlier this week, Framingham Public Schools made the decision to shut down a classroom at Harmony Grove Elementary to decrease the spike in cases.

But yesterday, four additional COVID cases were reported at Harmony Grove.

Also on December 2, two cases were reported at Cameron Middle, 2 cases were reported at Stapleton Elementary, and 2 cases were reported at McCarthy Elementary.

Additionally, one case was reported at each of the following: BLOCKS, Walsh Middle, Fuller Middle, Dunning Elementary, and Potter Road Elementary.

There have been 235 COVID cases in the Framingham Public Schools since the school year began.

Framingham High has reported the most cases with 36.

Harmony Grove Elementary had had 25 cases, more than 80% of them in the last 30 days.

Barbieri Elementary has had 21 cases and Walsh Middle School has 20 cases.

Students can only return to school with a negative COVID test after they’ve been cleared by the district school nurse or the COVID Call Center.

The district has asked parents to remind their child(ren) to do the following during the school day:

  • Always wear a mask that fully covers your nose and mouth while indoors, unless you are having a mask break or you are eating
  • Wear your mask on the bus
  • Wash your hands often
  • Maintain physical distance from others as much as possible, especially when eating lunch or snack

Parents can enroll their child(ren) in the district’s Routine Safety Check COVID testing program.

“For your child to participate in this program, we must have a signed consent on file. If you haven’t consented to let them participate, please sign the consent form as soon as possible. To learn more about the Routine Safety Check COVID testing program, please call the COVID Call Center, 508-782-6633 (or covid@framingham.k12.ma.us), which is open on school days, M-F, 6:00am-6:00pm,” said the District.

“Getting your child and yourself vaccinated is one of the most important things you can do to prevent getting sick with COVID. The COVID vaccine is safe and effective,” said the public school district.
