Women's Hockey drops 4-1 contest to Union - Rochester Institute of Technology Athletics - RIT Athletics

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT junior goaltender Taylor Liotta (Mississauga, ON/Oakville Hornets) made 30 stops, despite visiting Union riding a pair of power-play goals to a 4-1 win Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Union scored the lone goal of the first period on its only power play by Emily King 9:45 into the contest.
  • The second period saw a single tally coming from the Dutchwomen's Maren Friday on the power play with 14:02 left for a 2-0 lead.
  • Union took a 3-0 lead midway through the third period before sophomore forward Emma Roland (Williamsville, NY) got the Tigers on the board with assists from sophomore forward Lindsay Maloney (Lakeville, MN) and freshman defenseman Bailey Kehl (Quincy, WA) with 4:17 left in the third.
  • Union added an empty-net goal in the final seconds to close out the afternoon's scoring.

GAME NOTES

  • Roland's goal gave her a team-leading three.
  • Kehl's assist was her second in as many days. The freshman blueliner now leads the team in assists with three.
  • Maloney's assist moved her to the team lead in points with four.
  • Liotta's 30 saves were a season high with one goal allowed at even-strength.

WHAT'S NEXT

RIT hosts the University of Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in the first of two weekend games at the Gene Polisseni Center.
