MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team was defeated, 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-11), by No. 1-ranked Wisconson on Thursday night (April 1) at U-W Field House.
Junior Paige Jones led U-M with 13 kills on 37 attempts (.216). Freshman Scottee Johnson had 24 assists, while classmate Hannah Grant had a match-high 15 digs.
Michigan (4-8, 4-8 Big Ten) dropped the first set, but made things difficult for the Badgers. U-M trailed early by as many as seven (10-3) but went on a 17-7 run to take a 20-17 lead, and later led by as many as four at 22-18. However, Wisconsin (14-0, 14-0 Big Ten) went on to win seven of the next eight points to take the set, 25-23. In all, the set featured five ties and a pair of lead changes. Jones led U-M offensively with five kills.
U-M led, 1-0, to start the second set and saw the stanza tied at 4-4. From that point, Wisconsin went on to outscore U-M 21-8 and lost the set, 25-12. Jones matched her output from set one with five kills, while Johnson had eight assists.
In the third set, U-M led, 2-1, but the Badgers went on a 4-1 run to lead, 5-3. The closest U-M came the rest of the set was 12-7 as the Badgers went on to take the set, 25-11. The 11-point output was U-M's lowest in a set this season.

Michigan will wrap up its seaon Friday (April 2) when it once again takes on No. 1 Wisconsin. Match time is slated for 2 p.m. CDT at U-W Field House, and the matchup will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
