McLean County, Ill. (WEEK) -- Another record-breaking day for COVID-19 positive cases in McLean County as the 7-day positive rate nears warning levels.

The health department said 99 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

35 of them are people 18 or 19-years-old.

55 of the cases are for people in their 20s.

"We've seen some instances where social distancing may not being practiced as well as face coverings not worn. So those are things that increase risks. Surveillance testing is one of those factors where we're looking for it, we're testing for it so we're going to find it," said Health Administrator for the county, Jessica McKnight.

Also in the data, three children under 17 are positive.

More grade school and middle school students are being tested now that they're back in session.

This brings the county to 1,143 total COVID-19 cases.

407 cases are still active.

Four of those people are hospitalized.

This makes contact tracing a burden.

"Each case could have between 5 and 10 or more depending on what they've been doing the last couple weeks. That's a lot of people. It's definitely been very difficult for us to keep up with contact tracing," said McKnight.

40,500 Coronavirus test have been performed in McLean County since testing became available.

That makes the county's overall positive rate 2.8%.

The 7-day rate is 7.3%.

The warning level is 8%.

No changes in phases for McLean County are planned at this time.
