The Marathon Continues
There's no doubt that Seahawks safety Jamal Adams made a tremendous impact on the Seahawks' defense, even after missing more playing time than he had anticipated. After finishing the season with a team-high 9.5 sacks - an NFL record for a defensive back - and earning a third-straight Pro Bowl honor, Adams wasn't satisfied with just winning the NFC West.
Following a disappointing playoff exit, Adams revealed that he played through multiple injuries during the season - including a torn labrum and broken fingers.
"I've got to take care of these fingers for sure, and the shoulder," Adams said. "It's part of the game. I'm not sitting here making excuses for anything, it's part of the game, and like I said early in the week, there was no doubt in my mind that I wasn't going to go out there and attempt to play. I did what I could, I wish I could have done more to help the team win, but obviously things didn't roll our way."
On Thursday, Adams posted a photo on social media of his surgery, saying:
"I didn't complain all season because it was bigger than me. I hyperextended my elbow Week One. Week Two, I dislocated both my ring and middle finger multiple times. I then strained my groin Week Three, which knocked me out for four games. Came back and dislocated my shoulder. Ended up tearing my labrum. Last week I had two surgeries at the same time. I say all that to say this, keep that same energy for next season, when I'm back healthy. All of you are on my list."
I'll spare our Round-Up readers the details of the photo, which showed Adams' fingers being surgically worked on, but Adams says he posts his photos to give him even more motivation for next season. We wish Jamal a speedy and healthy recovery, looking forward to him back on the field in 2021. As always, the marathon continues.
Lumen Donates $10,000 to Digital Equity Fund
Lumen is joining the Seahawks as well as other local partners like Microsoft to help close the digital divide by supporting the Digital Equity Fund.
The Digital Equity Fund, launched during the summer months, was developed to help educators throughout the state as they prepared for a school year of remote learning brought on by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. For many students, these challenging circumstances were only made even more difficult due to a lack of high-speed internet connections and/or devices necessary for schooling at home, and the initiative was developed to address these exact issues.
When first launched, Washington's Governor Jay Inslee said, "As we work to keep our communities safe and healthy during this crisis, we must ensure all children have what they need to access distance learning. Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and the Digital Equity Initiative is helping to provide thousands of students in Washington with the support necessary to keep up with school while our state recovers from this pandemic."
With Lumen's generous donation, countless students will receive the support they need to ensure a productive, educational year in the classroom, and we can't thank them enough.
