A weak cold front drops in - Chris Bailey's Kentucky Weather

apenabe.blogspot.com

Good Saturday to one and all. Our pleasant run of September air rolls on as we track another cold front dropping in from the north. This boundary will bring much cooler air for the coming days, but it may also bring some unsettled weather into parts of the region.

Temps today range from the upper 70s to middle 80s, depending on where you are. Winds will gust up as a cold front drops in from the north. That may touch off a scattered shower or storm late today:

That front drops in and through the area early Sunday, with the upper low behind it slowing down and spinning near us. That keeps the potential for a few showers and storms going across central and eastern Kentucky into early next week. How much of a chance depends on where the low sets up.

The GFS continues to give us a much better shot at some scattered stuff:

The EURO is actually trending in that direction:

Temps through Wednesday will average below normal and could be well below normal:

Once that system gets out of the way, temps climb for the second half of next week, but another cold front looks to dive in here by Friday or Saturday. That’s being pushed by another deep trough diving into the eastern half of the country:

The overall setup continues to be pretty consistent with spiking temps being cut off by cold fronts dropping into the eastern half of the country.

Have a wonderful day and take care.
