Public Works crews have completed repairs on a broken water line at the intersection of South Ave. and Prairie Street.
According to Public Works Director Dean Grant, the break occurred in an 8 inch line at the intersection due to a combination soil movement and age of the line. The break was reported shortly after 10 am with crews responding shortly after.
Crews placed a clamp on the line and restored water to roughly 12 customers shortly after 3 pm. Traffic was detoured at the intersection for close to four hours as crews worked to repair the break.

Emporia Public Works crews are in the process of repairing a broken waterline at the intersection of South Ave. and Prairie St.
The break was reported shortly before 10 am Christmas morning with water clearly visible on both the roadway and in both ditches. Details on the size of the line and break are currently pending, however, crews on site report roughly 12 customers are currently offline.
