Incumbent Nancy Kemnitzer and newcomers Steve Block and James Lynch are leading the four-candidate race to secure three open spots on the Belvedere City Council based on preliminary results late Tuesday.
With all precincts counted, Kemnitzer and Block each collected 517 votes, or 29.19%. Lynch won 475 votes, or 26.82%. Chelsea Schlunt, co-founder and manager of Bellows Plumbing, Heating & Air construction company managed to get 262 votes, or 14.79%.
Kemnitzer, 68, is a lawyer. Block, 59, is a retired business executive and lawyer. Lynch, 53, is a retired lawyer.
“There were four strong candidates and I’m glad that we have all learned a lot from this exercise in democracy,” Kemnitzer said. “I look forward to serving with other newly elected council members. Think we have a strong city council all for the benefit of Belvedere.”
