You no longer need to wait for Up in Smoke BBQ’s mobile truck to pull up.

Owners Marc and Alanna McMullan have brought their smoked meats to a 50-seat restaurant at 1330 N. Mountain Road in Lower Paxton Township. It opened earlier this month with a full menu of pork, chicken, brisket and sides.

The couple have operated Up in Smoke since 2012 when they opened up a weekend-only spot in a parking lot in West Hanover Township. Marc McMullan started the business after watching an episode of “Pitmasters” and dug his own backyard cinder-block pit.

Two years later, they moved to the Broad Street Market in Harrisburg for a short run before turning the business into a full-time mobile operation, setting up at food truck gatherings and events.

Along the way, Up in Smoke’s catering orders grew. To handle demand, the couple purchased multiple buildings along North Mountain Road and rehabbed them to house a larger kitchen and the restaurant.

Now diners can stop for takeout or enjoy their food in the dining room.

“Down at the restaurant we changed it up a little bit. We are selling the meats by the pound. We offer pork, chicken, brisket, beef ribs and pork ribs. We have several different platters and a bunch of sides,” Marc said.

Up in Smoke focuses on quality meats, not fancy rubs and sauces.

“I try and cook the meat so you can enjoy the meat for what it is,” Marc said.

Sandwiches include a Porsket, a 1/4-pound each of pork and brisket; pulled pork; pulled chicken; and brisket. Entrees include half and full racks of ribs and a Texas Crippler, both pork and brisket on top of cornbread topped with sweet and spicy slaw.

Pick from sides such as mac and cheese, slaw, cornbread and baked beans.

It is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday-Sunday. Phone is 717-645-7939.
