apenabe.blogspot.com
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 19 UCF Thursday at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

Thursday's scoring:
Both of UCF's goals came in the opening half. The first came in the 14th minute when the ball popped out of a scrum on the foot of UCF's Trescott Shamlou. With UF's Alexa Goldberg off her line, a backsave was attempted but the deflection went over the line.

The final score came when Darya Rajaee put in a penalty kick at 40:49.

Florida had opportunities but the extra pass to get someone in or the finishing touch just wasn't there tonight. For the match, Florida had 12 shots and the Knights 10.

What the Gators Said:

On tonight's match:
"I think some things were better, but we lost 2-nil so I wouldn't say anything is clicking right now. It was a weird game. When the game started, thought we were doing some good, positive things but at the end of the day, we were down 2-nil after we made a mess of a couple of situations defensively.

"Obviously, goals are what matter in a game and we created some chances early and things looked good. It was a funny game. I thought we were doing some good things but we lost the game.

"When we started the second half, I thought we got back in the game and started to create some chances. You've got to finish one of those and the game changes. We were putting them under enough pressure and creating chances. The final ball or the final shot, it wasn't there for us. We're going to have to work on that." Florida Head Coach Tony Amato

On tonight's match:
"It's early in the season so the last pass is still give and take. We still need to find a rhythm. We need to find each other playing in our culture and our vibe. It's going to improve the more we play but it something we will work on going forward." – junior midfielder Cameron Hall
