DID YOU KNOW?
Senior outfielder Haley Cruse leads the country with five doubles, while her three doubles vs. Montana on Feb. 12 tied a school record for a single game.

PERFECT START
Oregon rolled to a perfect 5-0 weekend at the GCU Kickoff Classic to start 2021, including four run-rule wins, three shutouts and a perfect game. After a run-rule win over Weber State in the opener, Samaria Diaz and Raegan Breedlove combined to toss the fourth perfect game in school history in an 8-0 win over Montana in five innings. Oregon then beat Weber State via mercy rule again on Feb. 13 and topped host Grand Canyon in the nightcap, 5-3, before run-ruling Montana again on Sunday.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
After getting off to one of the best starts in program history through 24 games at 22-2, Oregon's 2020 season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic last March. Now, with nearly everyone from last year's team returning, the 2021 Ducks will look to finish what they started last year. The 24 players who will suit up for Oregon have combined for 830 career starts, while 12 position players and four pitchers who started a game last year are back.

STRONG START
After last year's team got off to the second-best start in school history through 24 games, the Ducks have picked up where they left off, starting 5-0 at the GCU Kickoff Classic. Oregon has started at least 5-0 in each of its three years under head coach Melyssa Lombardi, while the Ducks have won their first five games of the year five straight seasons overall and in six of the last seven seasons dating back to 2015.

SHUTDOWN START
Oregon's pitching staff got its 2021 campaign off to a dominant start, allowing just four runs over 28 innings pitched and tossing three shutouts on opening weekend at the GCU Kickoff Classic. Ducks' pitching did not allow a run over their 17 innings pitched, recording three consecutive shutouts to begin the year. Included in those shutouts was the fourth perfect game in school history, a combined effort by Samaria Diaz and Raegan Breedlove in an 8-0 win over Montana. Additionally, Oregon gave up just 13 hits over the 28 innings and posted a 32-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

PITCHER PERFECT
In the second game of the year, Samaria Diaz and Raegan Breedlove combined to throw the fourth perfect game in school history in an 8-0 win over Montana in five innings. The pair retired all 15 batters they faced, combining for five strikeouts, while getting six outs via fly ball and four on the ground. It was also the 33rd no-hitter in school history and just the second combined no-no while the performance was the second time that Oregon has no-hit Montana, the other time coming on March 10, 2018. Diaz tossed the first 3.2 innings of the perfecto with four strikeouts, while Breedlove went 1.1 innings out of the bullpen, striking out one.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
After featuring a diverse offensive attack in 2020, Oregon picked up right where it left off starting off the season by getting contributions up-and-down the lineup. Six Oregon players who started a game on opening weekend hit over .350, while seven different players recorded a double and eight players drove in multiple runs. Additionally, the Ducks had four different players drive in at least three runs in a game over the weekend, with Allee Bunker recording five RBIs in the opener, Haley Cruse with four vs. Weber State on Saturday, Lexi Wagner with four vs. Montana on Sunday and Alyssa Brito driving in three against Grand Canyon.

DOUBLE THE FUN
Through the first five games of the year, Oregon is tied for the national lead with 13 total doubles. The Ducks had a two-bagger in each of the first five games of the season with seven different players picking up a double on opening weekend. Haley Cruse leads the country with her five doubles while Rachel Cid and Lexi Wagner each had two in the GCU Kickoff Classic. Additionally, Oregon had six doubles in a five-inning run-rule victory over Montana, just one shy of the program single-game record of seven.
