LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police say three teenagers are facing burglary charges following a break-in at a Lincoln country club where the boys stole a number of items and tried setting a desk on fire.
Around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, officers were called out to Hillcrest Country Club, in East Lincoln, for a report of a burglary.
LPD said responding officers spoke with the manager who said windows in the Pro Shop were broken, a beverage cart was stolen and there was damage all throughout the building.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video that police said shows three males breaking in around 10 p.m. and staying until around 2:30 a.m.
LPD said the three suspects stole a mini hand cart, gloves, backpacks, cash, the beverage cart and alcohol. According to police, the beverage cart is worth $9,000.
The suspects were all over the building, in the garage, kitchen, offices, and locker room. According to police, in an office, the suspects poured lighter fluid all over and tried lighting the desk on fire.
LPD said the suspects caused $4,000 in damage by prying open the garage door, breaking windows, damaging wooden lockers, TVs, computer monitors, and tablets.
Investigators said surveillance video shows the suspects leaving the Country Club on the beverage cart, which officers found abandoned near 98th and A Streets by a trailhead.
According to LPD, investigators identified the three suspects as a 13-year-old, 14-year-old and 15-year-old boys.
Investigators said the trailhead is right by the 15-year-old’s home.
LPD said officers contacted all three boys and they were charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
According to LPD, the 14-year-old was already at the Youth Assessment Center and the other two boys were sent to CEDARS by a judge.
