CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Coral Springs’ unemployment rate continues to fall, with businesses slowly reopening and recovering eight months into the pandemic.
The city’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.2 percent in October – from 6.7 percent in September, according to new data released Friday.
In all, 4,439 people were unemployed in Coral Springs out of 72,032 people in the labor force in October, which is the latest information from Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
In comparison, the jobless rate in Broward County fell to 7.3 percent in October from 8.2 percent in September, the data showed. And in Florida, unemployment dropped to 6.4 percent in October from 7.6 percent in September.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 6.9 percent in October.
Many troubled sectors, including restaurants and hotels, showed signs of recovering from dampened travel and diminished in-person services during the pandemic, but they are still far from economic levels seen in the same period in 2019, the data shows.
Experts still expect a long road to recovery, especially with new surges in Covid-19 cases locally and across the nation.
