Lions fear extended AFL break for Harris - ESPN

Harris Andrews might not return for Brisbane until a potential preliminary final after scans on his hamstring reportedly revealed an injury worse than first thought.

The All-Australian fullback left the game in the third quarter of his side's defeat of Collingwood on Friday, coach Chris Fagan hopeful a two or three-week lay-off would see him return for the first week of finals.

Instead he could miss five or six weeks, Lions football boss David Noble told AFL.com.au.

The Lions are second with three games to play and in the box seat to earn a double-chance in finals as a top-four side.

That would mean Harris is likely to miss their first finals game and possibly their semi-final if it takes six weeks to heal.

The Lions have a good track record with hamstring recovery though, former No.1 pick Cameron Rayner almost halving the estimated four-week time out to return earlier this season.

They next face Gold Coast on Wednesday, before games against Sydney and Carlton to finish the regular season.
