TAMPA — The asking price on the nearly 1-acre Steinbrenner estate in South Tampa has fallen by $1.3 million.

Realtor Toni Everett said the home’s listing dropped to $4.4 million as many consumers desire a more contemporary home and don’t want to remodel. Most of the home was built in 2001, but it incorporated a portion of the original house constructed on the property in 1958. It was initially listed in May 2019.

“We have had offers, they just haven’t been the right ones,” Everett said.

Located on the Palma Ceia Golf Course, the home has seven bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, two half baths, three utility rooms and two elevators. Entering a two story grand hall, residents have access to a formal living room and the dining room. The home has a major bedroom suite on both floors, with a kitchenette, bath and two walk-in closets located in the upstairs one.

The south end of the home includes a media room, which has access to a one-bedroom apartment “with kitchen, living and dining room,” according to the home’s online listing. An elevator located on that side of the home has access to the kitchen and family room area.

The house at 1012 S Frankland Road is also equipped with a bar area, library, office and powder room. A garden and pool are located on the west end of the home.

Former Yankees’ owner George Steinbrenner and his wife Joan Steinbrenner purchased the home in 2000 for $3.8 million. After George died in 2010, Joan continued to live in the home until her death in 2018.
