Rain chances on the way up - KTRK-TV

apenabe.blogspot.com
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After a long stretch of dry weather (no measurable rainfall since July 7th) we are starting to see rain return to the forecast in the coming days.

Thursday is still mostly dry and hot, with high temperatures in the upper 90s and only a stray chance of an isolated shower or storm. Factor in the humidity, and it will easily feel between 100-105 degrees throughout the afternoon.

More promising rain chances return Friday with an upper air disturbance rotating around a heat ridge to our north. It all adds up to a 30% chance for those cooling afternoon downpours we look forward to in the summertime.

It's important to point out that this isn't a washout of a forecast over the coming days, with just a 20% chance of rain on both Saturday and Sunday. That being said, rain chances will be picking up a bit next week, bringing everyone at least a chance of some afternoon showers and storms as we move through the week. Temperatures for the weekend and week ahead will be in the mid 90s.
