The number of homes sold in the Owensboro area went up for the fourth consecutive month in June, though the average price dropped for the first time this year. The 193 homes sold in June is the highest in at least the last 30 months.

According to the Greater Owensboro REALTOR Association’s housing report, the average sold price for June was $197,483 — down $12,000 from May 2020 but still up $16,000 from a year ago.

The average days on the market remains low at 57 days, compared to 81 in June 2020.

“While our local housing market is still experiencing an inventory challenge, many buyers are finding homes to purchase,” said Jason Bellamy, President of GO REALTORS. “Also, the value of homes  in our area continues to increase.”

There are 194 sales pending, with 144 active listings.

“We are seeing more  housing coming on the market recently, and homeowners are continuing to get a great  return on their investments in this seller’s market,” said GO REALTORS President-elect Michelle Wiesman.
